ABOUT THE PROJECT
A fundraising effort is underway to support the commission and installation of a bronze statue honoring the culture and resilience of the Pomo people of Lake County.
The Historic Courthouse Museum staff and the Tribal Advisory Committee to Museums of Lake County, in collaboration with the seven Lake County Pomo Tribes, have designed a statue of a Pomo family to be erected on the lawns of the Historic Courthouse Museum in Lakeport, California.

This statue honors the Pomo people whose presence has been documented for thousands of years, and whose culture continues to thrive to this day. This work of art will embody the past, present, and future generations of the Pomo people.
This statue will be a source of pride to the Lake County community and will engage the public in a fuller appreciation of art, culture, and heritage. A closer view of Pomo culture can be experienced at the Courthouse Museum where extraordinary basketry created by renowned Pomo weavers is on permanent display.
The organizers invite individuals, businesses, and organizations to make any monetary contribution to this project.

Checks or cash can be accepted directly at the Historic Courthouse Museum, 255 North Main Street, Lakeport, CA 95453. Make check to: “Friends of the Lake County Museum” (write on memo line: Lake Pomo Statue). Credit Card donation can be done on line, or via Square in person at the Courthouse Museum.

All donations are fully deductible to the fullest extent of the law and will be placed in a restricted County fund for specifically the Lake Pomo Family statue.
